I’m taking a little break from cookies today! I promise I’m not cookied-out yet, I just happen to have a few non-cookie recipes to share as well! Like delicious Cheeseburger Pizza. It’s a cheeseburger. On a pizza. What’s not to like, right?
Nick got his second deer of the year, so we’ve been busy using it up. We had a ton of ground meat from the first one, so for this one we (Nick) decided to keep the steaks and a couple roasts, then ground the rest for jerky and sausage! We used a prepackaged spice mix for the jerky and it came out just OK… if we make it again, we will definitely find a recipe and use our own spice blend! I can’t comment on the sausage, since I haven’t tasted it yet. But I will be posting the recipe and a full review soon!
In order to make room in the freezer for Bambi #2, I pulled out a package of Bambi #1 and made this delicious pizza! I’d seen the idea a few different places and decided to put my own spin on it. Of course, you could (and probably will) use ground beef in this!
Cheeseburger Pizza
makes 2 pizzas
- 1 batch homemade pizza dough, divided in half (or 2 pre-made pizza doughs)
- Sesame seeds
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 – 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 – 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 1 lb ground beef (or venison!), cooked and crumbled
- 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 2/3 cup dill pickle slices, roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mustard
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Stretch the dough out into 2 circles and spread sesame seeds around the crust. (Note: this isn’t really necessary, but I like the “cute” factor of the hamburger bun crust.)
If you like a crispier crust, you can prebake the crust for about 10 minutes, then add toppings. If you like it doughier, then add the toppings to the raw dough. Spread 1/2 cup of pizza sauce on each dough. Top with a thin layer of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, then add half of the beef and bacon to each pie. Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top, if desired.
Bake the pizza 20-30 minutes, until crisp and browned. Remove from oven and immediately top with pickles, tomatoes and lettuce. In a ziplock bag, combine ketchup and mustard. Snip a corner off the bag and drizzle the sauce over top of the pizza. Slice up the pizza and serve!
This pizza was great! It really did taste like a cheeseburger on top of a pizza! Pickles and mustard on a pizza may sound weird, but it totally worked. Next time I’d add just a bit of finely minced raw white onion to get the classic Mickey D’s taste!
Kaiser loves when we have pizza. He patiently waits til we are stuffed to the gills and ready to surrender some “pizza bones” to him.
Cali got jealous and wanted in on the action, but she’s a bit more picky and quickly realized she wasn’t interested in any of these treats.
But don’t listen to her! Make the pizza!

Can’t wait to try this pizza on my family. We have lots of venison left from last year and need to get it used up so I can clean the freezer out for this season. Thanks!
