Happy New Year! I’m glad the world didn’t end and we all managed to get here!
Nick and I have been on vacation in Massachusetts for the past 2 weeks, and obviously the blog has been on a bit of a hiatus as well.
Last night, we celebrated with champagne… and lobster!
No trip up North is complete without getting lobsters at least once.
And New Year’s Eve seemed like the perfect excuse.
Since I haven’t been cooking much on vacation, I thought I’d share a recap of the past year.
You can check out 2011’s recap and best recipes here.
We spent all of 2012 in one state, which was a huge deal after all the moving we’ve done in the last couple years. We had a great time exploring our new state along with lots of fun cities within driving distance… New Orleans; Pensacola; Mobile, Alabama; Nashville and Memphis!
2012 was the year of weddings. I attended friends’ weddings in Fort Lauderdale, the Bahamas, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
But the biggest event of the year was our own wedding!
2012 brought lots of new recipes and creativity in the kitchen.
So what were the interweb’s favorite recipes this year? Here are the top 5 most popular!
The 5th most popular recipe this year was Fall Harvest Pizza. This was definitely an amazing pizza. A great combination of sweet, salty, creamy and crunchy. Fall may seem forever away, but this pizza would taste just as delicious any time of year!
Number 4: Buffalo Chicken Pasta Salad. I love anything buffalo chicken, so this was my favorite side dish to bring to potlucks and BBQ’s this summer.
Number 3: Hot & Sour Soup. This is a GREAT recipe! It’s hard to nail restaurant foods, especially ethnic ones… but this recipe is spot on, and amazingly delicious!
Number 2 was one of my favorites: Thai Chicken Enchiladas. It may sound weird, but there are lots of great flavors going on here!
And finally… the #1 most popular recipe of the year: Jalapeno Cornbread Poppers!
What will 2013 bring? Definitely more cooking. Wings for Nick. Another move, which means a new job, new friends and lots of new experiences. Can’t wait to see what’s in store!
