Happy 4th of July Weekend!!

These berries are all dressed up for the occasion!

The people who lived in our house before us apparently don’t care about any of their mail, because they never changed their address. Besides bank statements and medical bills (which I finally returned to the mailman after weeks of throwing them in the trash… oops), I also have the pleasure of receiving their Disney Family Fun Magazine (I’m told they had 3 children).

I won’t lie, I read it. Or skim it at least. I like arts. I like crafts. I like fun kitchen projects! So what if I’m 20 years older than (or a few years away from) their targeted audience?

When I saw these super cute berries, I knew I had to make them. So simple but so adorable!

Revolutionary Berries

• strawberries
• vanilla candy chips (from a craft store) or white chocolate chips
• blue sugar crystals or sprinkles

You can use regular white chocolate chips for this, but the vanilla candy coating chips (probably not the technical name) that you find at a craft store work a lot better. It hardens a better which will make the strawbs prettier and less messy. Since you’ll probably have to make a trip to Michael’s or Hobby Lobby for the blue sprinkles anyways, you might as well pick up the vanilla chips.

Melt the chips in a double boiler.

Dip the stawberries in the chocolate, leaving a good strip of red, then dip the bottoms in blue sugar. Lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment, wax paper, or a silpat.

Put them in the fridge at least 10 minutes to set. Then serve and enjoy!

I love these! They’re so cute! And I’m already thinking about switching out the blue for green and making them for Christmas… that is if I can find ripe strawberries in December.

These are really easy for kids to make, but I see no problem with adults making them either. And they’re yummy, too.

I hope every has a fabulous holiday weekend! I’ve heard it from the Air Force at least 10 times this week, so I’ll pass it on: be safe, don’t drown, and don’t blow your arm off with a firework.
