Warm Turkey, Brie and Fresh Peach Baguettes

Do you remember a few months ago when I ran a half marathon in Napa Valley? I sure do… my knee is still killing me! Napa is one of our favorite places in California to visit. And not just for the wine. Aside from being absolutely gorgeous—rolling vineyards as far as the eye can see—it’s also a foodie’s paradise. You’ll eat well no matter where you go in Napa, but one of our favorite things to do is to enjoy the food and scenery at the same time… by picnicking!

Napa has lots of gourmet sandwich shops that really emphasize high quality, local, fresh and tasty ingredients. There’s no such thing as a basic, boring sandwich at these places. It’s great because you can take a really great meal to-go and enjoy it outdoors in the perfect Cali weather.

Warm Turkey, Brie and Fresh Peach Baguettes

If you can’t make it up to Napa (stay tuned—I’ll tell you how you can win a trip in a sec!), how about creating a fun, gourmet sandwich at home?

Foster Farms recently came out with a line of All Natural Sliced Turkey, and to celebrate they are hosting a “Don’t Call Me Basic” Sandwich Contest.

Foster Farms #DontCallMeBasic

Foster Farms All Natural Sliced Turkey is anything but basic. It’s all natural, with no nitrates, nitrites, chemicals, preservatives, hormones or steroids. It’s also lower in sodium and 98% fat free. So you can feel good about eating a high-quality product. And that kind of product deserves amazing bread and condiments to go along with it.

Do you have an idea for an amazing turkey sandwich? Enter the Foster Farms #DontCallMeBasic contest and you could win a trip to Napa Valley (or $4,000 cash)! You could also win one of several weekly prizes simply by entering, including high-end Panini presses and gourmet picnic basket sets.

To enter the contest:

  1. Create a turkey sandwich using Foster Farms All Natural Sliced Turkey and other creative ingredients of your choosing. The sky’s the limit!
  2. Post a photo of your creation on Instagram. In the caption, include @FosterFarms and #DontCallMeBasic. Make sure your profile is public!

Entries may also be emailed to [email protected] if you don’t have an Instagram account.

Warm Turkey, Brie and Fresh Peach Baguettes

For my anything-but-basic turkey sandwich, I start with a freshly baked baguette. French bread is just the best. Then I spread on a little honey mustard. Make sure it’s a good, spicy one. If you don’t have any honey mustard, you can make your own. Just mix one part spicy mustard (like Dijon) with one part honey. After you’ve slathered your bread, you can top it with some Foster Farms All Natural Sliced Turkey and a couple slices of Brie cheese. Then warm it all up in the oven or toaster oven until it’s nice and warm and melted.

Once the cheese is warm, remove the sandwiches from the oven and add some slices of juicy, ripe peach. Then top with arugula and sandwich everything together.

How good does that look? There is nothing like Brie and fresh fruit together, and they both complement the turkey really well. The mustard and arugula give the sandwich just a little bit of a bite and even out the sweetness. This sandwich really reminded me of something I would get at one of the shops in Napa, and it was so easy to make at home. Especially since we have the most amazing summer peaches right now!

Turkey doesn’t have to be boring. With just a little creativity and some yummy, unique ingredients, you can really make lunchtime special!

Wouldn’t a free trip to Napa be fabulous! Love this sandwich! The creaminess of the brie and the sweetness of peaches go so well with turkey. 🙂

This sounds like heaven!!! A market near me has the BEST peaches right now and they just came out with a sandwich with peaches, basil, arugula and mozzarella. This totally reminds me of it, but the BRIE! I need to try your version. Yum!

Ohmygosh this looks so delicious! Anything with brie is a winner in my book but I’ve never tried peaches on a sandwich, only apples. This definitely makes me want to run out and get some peaches and brie!
