Ice Cream Float Bar

July 1, 2015 by jessfuel

Kick up your next summer party with an ice cream float bar! You can keep it virgin for the kids, or add some booze for the adults! Thank you Dr. Pepper Snapple Group for sponsoring this post.

Ice Cream Float Party

It’s almost time for one of my favorite holidays! Are you doing anything fun for the 4th of July?

For pretty much my entire childhood, I remember heading to the fireworks show the night before the 4th. It was one of the best shows in the area and was always packed with people from all the surrounding towns. We always got glow sticks, and sometimes cotton candy, and we’d lay out on a blanket in the heat waiting for the show to start.

Fourth of July Treats

That night after the fireworks display, or early the next morning, we’d head to beat the traffic and get to the beach for the long weekend. We’d spend the weekend in the sun, sometimes catching a second fireworks show. And of course, there were always trips to the ice cream shop! No summer holiday would be complete without some frosty treats.

These days we usually spend the holiday at parties and BBQ’s closer to home. But it still always feels special when it brings back memories of holidays past. If you’re throwing a bash this year, here is a really fun way to relive your childhood memories: an Ice Cream Float Bar!

Ice Cream Float Bar

Dr Pepper® has two limited edition flavors out: Dr Pepper Cherry® and Dr Pepper Vanilla Float®, which are like a sip of nostalgia that will help you unlock summer fun! These Dr Pepper® flavors are perfect for a yummy float bar.

This would be a great idea for both kids and adults. You can keep things virgin with assorted ice creams and sodas, or you can make things a little more fun for the adults by adding some flavored vodkas, brandies and liqueurs! You can also add some festive candy or fruit. I dipped some cherries and licorice in white chocolate and blue sprinkles– instant red, white and blue treats!

To keep the ice cream from melting too fast, fill a bucket with ice and set the containers in the ice.

To assemble the floats: add a scoop of ice cream to your cup, then add any booze you’d like. Slowly pour in soda, then top with an extra scoop of ice cream and some whipped cream.

What you’ll need for your ice cream float party:

  • Cups and straws
  • Dr Pepper Cherry® and/or Dr Pepper Vanilla Float®
  • Assorted ice creams (Vanilla, Chocolate, Cherry, etc)
  • Optional: Assorted liquors (Cherry brandy, Crème de Cacao, Vanilla or Whipped Cream Vodka, etc)
  • Whipped Cream
  • Cherries
